Hi folks,

We seemed to focus our energy more on our main emails, and neglected our prayer emails this past year.  So here are some requests that can last you through this second term of school:

We are thankful for a visit from Jim's parents in Nov/Dec, and thankful for the connection to our home in the states that these visits really help us with.  It's sometimes hard to be HERE when everyone else, it seems is THERE.

But, we are also thankful for a number of very close friendships that we've developed with a few other couples and singles here at RVA.  Friendship deeply enriches our lives here, and encourages our work as well.  It would be a lonely existence without these dear ones.

You can pray for Jim this term as he focuses most of his energy on preparing his AP Bio kids for their exam which will come in early May.  Between the April break, a week long jr/sr trip in late March, and other big campus activities, he has about 9 weeks of class time.  He's feeling the crunch!

For Heather, you can pray for her balance of home and work as she begins teaching the Advanced Cooking class this term.  It is mid-morning, which theoretically works really well with everyone's schedules, but it will surely be an adjustment.  It will be a fun class of juniors and seniors.

As parents, you can pray as we continue to learn how to guide our children as we grow, and that we have the focus and energy to love and spend time with our kids as we should.  We are also praying for the holy spirit's guidance as we seek to discipline them in the love of the Lord.

For Faith, you can pray as she grows into an elementary-aged girl, and learns how to be a friend and interact with those around her.  You can pray for her growing faith, and that she would be open to the Godly influence of others in her life.

For Joel, you can pray for his time he and Heather will spend together, learning and reading and getting ready for Kindergarten.  He's a wonderful artist, and really picks up information well.  Pray for his emotional maturity as he is learning to handle situations and disappointments like a boy and not a toddler.

For Aaron, who is growing exceptionally well.  That he would remain healthy and strong and guarded against severe tummy or skin troubles, as seems to happen a little more often here in Kenya.  He will celebrate his 7th month birthday this month.  Can you believe it?

You can also pray for RVA students this term, as they really settle into life and friendships here.  Pray for the ones that still feel on the 'outside' of things, for the ones feeling overloaded with schoolwork, and for the Seniors, looking ahead to living outside of Africa next year.

Thank you so much for your prayers, we are grateful, and very needful of them.  Like last year, this will probably be a big term for us, but we are hoping to have learned some lessons last year (Jim will not be coaching this year), and will hopefully handle it with a little more grace!

Love,
Jim, Heather, Faith, Joel and Aaron
